In Metis you can set up your system using one of two timesheet entry policies. These are:

- Actual hours

- Company standard hours

There are pros and cons to each, and both have different effects on how you can use Metis in practice.

Actual hours (free entry)

As a Metis admin, you have access to Zones > Settings. Navigate to the Timesheets tab in Settings, and you are able to change the timesheet entry policy. This is the setting we'd recommend in Metis as it gives you most flexibility around time entry.

Actual hours means that People in your business can enter as many hours as they like in a given day (not more than 24 hours of course!).
The benefits to this setting in Metis are:

  • You're able to capture overtime

The drawbacks to this setting are:

  • You cannot stop people inputting more hours (and hence affecting job forecasts) than expected

Company standard hours (capped entry)

Company standard hours means that People in your business can only enter as many hours as specified in your Company Settings. Read more about Standard working week in Metis here.

The benefits to this setting in Metis are:

  • You're able to control time entry (and hence forecast and margins)

The drawbacks to this setting are:

  • You're not able to capture overtime

tip!

If using this setting, we recommend making sure your Standard Working Week hourly values are accurate.
