What is a Cutover month?

Cutover month is a feature which ensures that Metis properly presents your business’s financial history for the months before you went live.

The Cutover month is the month from which your business is assumed to be submitting complete timesheets and expenses for all jobs. For the period before the Cutover month, your pipeline and job forecast information is calculated using Revenue Budget figures. For the period of and after the Cutover month, pipeline and job forecast information is calculated using Revenue Budget and Actuals (derived from timesheets and expenses).

How will the Cutover month affect your data?

Often, before you go live on Metis, timesheet and expense data may be inconsistent or patchy, and any calculations based on this data would therefore be inaccurate. Cutover month was introduced to improve the integrity of historic data as shown on your pipeline.

By setting your Cutover month, you are telling Metis to disregard any timesheet and expense information against jobs for the period before the Cutover month, in the calculation of the job Forecast. This means that Metis considers the Budget values as Actuals for this period. This is in effect the opening balance for the job.

For the period of and after the Cutover month, pipeline and job forecast information is calculated using Revenue Budget and Actuals (which are derived from timesheets and expenses against jobs).

Your Dashboard and Pipeline will show more realistic figures and trends across your financial and calendar year with Cutover month implemented at a suitable location in time.

You can change the Cutover month at any time, through Settings.

How does cutover month affect the calculation of forecast values?

If the cutover month falls within job period, then actual costs are not included in revenue and cost totals for the weeks before the cutover month (start of the month you specify as cutover). The budget values are used as actuals before the Cutover Month.
